Self Publishing
WHAT DO I DO WHEN I HAVE WRITTEN A BOOK AND WANT
TO PUBLISH IT?
A QUESTION I HAVE HEARD SO OFTEN – AND THIS IS WHAT
CAN BE DONE.
I am beginning to believe that most of my generation have a story to tell.
So
many
people
who
are
asked
what
they
will
do
once
they
retire,
are
very
quick
to
say
they
want
to
write
a
book.
And
they
do,
expecting
that
it
will
sell
to
friends,
family
and
maybe at Exclusive Books - and they will get rich.
I
wrote
my
memoir
eleven
years
ago
–
not
expecting
the
world
to
be
interested,
but
I
needed
it
to
be
in
print.
I
never
expected
the
publishing
houses
to
assist
and
eventually
understood that I had to “Self Publish.”
I have over the years assisted many to do just that.
How
it
works
is
that
they
send
me
the
draft
of
the
book
once
completed
or
as
they
are
writing
it.
My
role
is
to
read
and
edit
–
and
make
suggestions,
as
we
go
along.
These
are
in
regard
to
the
grammar,
use
of
language
and
just
comments
and
suggestions
in
general.
Then
to
put
the
document
into
the
format
required
for
printing,
if
it
is
what
the
author is prepared to accept as their option.
Sadly,
after
all
that,
there
are
many
books
on
computers
that
will
go
nowhere,
as
the
author
set
his
or
her
own
standards.
Being
the
belief
that
“My
book
is
too
good
to
be
self
published.”
Visit my page to see some
samples
of what has been achieved.
If
the
book
is
to
be
self-published
by
me
on
behalf
of
the
author,
I
have
a
very
good
printer
who
has
produced
the
books
for
the
author
to
give
away
to
family
or
to
sell.
One
advantage
here
is
that
the
quotes
can
be
for
example
20
–
50
–
100
books.
Should
20
be
printed
and
more
are
required
the
document
is
still
available
and
at
the
press
of
a
button,
more can be printed at any time.
